Explore the floating city by land and lagoon to discover its beauty, elegance and style.

Venice is one of the most enchanting cities in the world, which never fails to captivate its audience. There is so much to discover on our short breaks to Venice - this is a place you will want to return to again and again. Venice lends itself to idle wandering, and possibly the best way to enjoy its captivating charms is to let yourself get lost in the myriad of winding alleys and twisting lanes. It can be quite challenging to navigate your way around Venice, but that is a real part of the city's charm. Water buses and water taxis provide you with a way around the city and its labyrinth of small neighbourhoods and islands. The heart of the city is the magnificent St Mark's Square, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful city squares in the world. Overlooked by St Mark's Basilica, the large open space is surrounded by the Doge's Palace, the Procurator's residence, the famous Sansoviniana Bookshop and the iconic bell tower.

All of Treyn's Venice city breaks include travel on the Eurostar from St Pancras International to Paris Nord. After crossing Paris by Metro (not included), you board the Thello overnight sleeper service from Paris Lyon to Venice. Popular attractions on Venice city breaks

Basilica di San Marco
This unique landmark is renowned for its magnificent exterior and interior covered in spectacular encrusted mosaic marble carvings. St Mark's Basilica dominates the Piazza and is a symbol of Venetian glory. For those who prefer a bird's-eye view, take the opportunity to climb the Campanile di San Marco, which offers incredible vistas over the buildings clustered around the centre, and shimmering lagoons further out.

Doge's Palace
Doge's Palace overlooks St Mark's Square and the Venice lagoon and is the former residence of the Doge of Venice - the supreme authority for the once hugely powerful Republic of Venice. Now the palace is a remarkable museum.

Bridge of Sighs
Connecting the old prisons with the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs is a raised, enclosed bridge which was often the last sight for convicts prior to their
imprisonment.

San Giorgio Maggiore
Visit the nearby island of San Giorgio Maggiore, south of the main island, with its lovely basilica. The basilica's bell-tower offers unbeatable views over Venice.

Rialto Market & Torello
Visit the fascinating Rialto Market - the food hub of the city, or escape the throng of the city and head to Torello - one of the islands in the lagoon, much of which is designated as a nature reserve.

Gallerie dell'Accademia
No Venice city break would be complete without a trip to the world-famous Gallerie dell'Accademia. The art gallery, originally created as an art school, is home to some of the world's greatest pre-19th century art.
