Travelling through Europe by Train

One of the best ways to explore the beautiful continent of Europe is by train, which enables you to relax and truly enjoy the passing scenery even before you have arrived at your destination. Some of our European Rail Tours for 2011 also have journeys aboard heritage and narrow-gauge railways as included excursions, giving you even more chance to reach incredible scenery and natural wonders by rail. Most of our tours, except those in the UK and Ireland, begin at St Pancras International where we journey to mainland Europe on the Eurostar. All of the trains and accommodation we use is of a good standard and you can find the class and star ratings in the individual itineraries.

You might like to visit Europe to indulge in special celebrations or festivals which some of our European rail tours in 2011 are designed to visit. Perhaps escape to one of the continent's delightful Christmas markets for some festive shopping or ring in the New Year in an exciting new destination. As well as Christmas and New Year, other celebrations or festivals native to a specific area or country can also be visited, such as colourful Nice Carnival or vibrant Venice Carnival. Many of our holidays are not centred around a particular event and instead visit areas when they are at their most beautiful, such as Amsterdam in spring and the Swiss Alps in winter, so that you get the very best from your break.

Each of our European rail tours in 2011 and 2012 are accompanied by a professional Tour Manager who ensures that everything runs smoothly whilst you are away. Should you wish to enjoy your holiday more independently, your Tour Manager will blend into the background unobtrusively. A selection of excursions is also included in many of our holidays and they intend to introduce you to several of the greatest and most important sights in the area. Typical excursions can include city sightseeing tours, journeys on heritage railways and visits to local landmarks, with each trip aiming to introduce you to the history, culture or natural beauty of the place you are visiting.

Call one of our Tour Advisors to help book your ideal European rail tour in 2011 or 2012 and enjoy a holiday where all you have to do is enjoy the moment as everything is taken care of by us and by your Tour Manager.
