Reveal Hidden Treasures of Switzerland by Train

The Golden Pass Line, also known as the 'Orient Express of the Alps', is one of Switzerland's most recognised rail journeys due to the magnificent lakes, towering peaks and pristine forests that make up the breathtaking panoramas. On a tour of Switzerland by train you can witness traditional Swiss villages that dwell in the shadows of great peaks such as the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. During the winter season Switzerland is ideal for participating in exhilarating activities such as skiing and snowboarding as the mountains become glazed in deep crisp snow.

The Christmas season is one of the most magical times of the year, especially when you travel to Switzerland by train. You will find the festive atmosphere most welcoming and the landscape extremely picturesque. Indulge in a delectable five-course celebratory dinner, sip warming Glühwein as you are taken by horse and carriage to the town of Grindelwald and explore the warren of ice caves at the summit of the Jungfrau Mountain. Alternatively you may want to ride on the Centovalli Railway through the awe-inspiring valleys to northern Italy where you can visit the quaint mountain village at Zermat.

Whichever tour you choose to explore Switzerland by train you will have many opportunities to sample the appetising local cuisine at the local cafés and restaurants.  Switzerland is best known for its unique flavoured cheeses and those with a sweet tooth will enjoy its rich creamy chocolates. There is also a great selection of meals included within the cost of each holiday so you need not travel too far to savour the exceptional Swiss gastronomy.

Discovering Switzerland by train is one of the most enjoyable, exciting and comfortable means of travel. The roomy seats and fabulous wide-angled windows allow you to simply recline and watch the remarkable vistas pass by. If you prefer you can engross yourself in your favourite book or socialise with other passengers, your time can be spent as you choose. Your journey to Switzerland by train will begin at London St Pancras and, as with all of our escorted tours, you will be greeted by a professional Tour Manager who will accompany you throughout the holiday. There is no need for you to be concerned with making travel arrangements as your Tour Manager will take care of it for you and if you want any advice or assistance with anything, they will be delighted to help. However if you enjoy being more self-reliant when travelling to Switzerland by train, they will gladly leave you to your own devices.
