Indulge in a stately rail tour that explores Central Europe's great imperial capitals. From the elegant palaces of Vienna to the medieval castles of Prague, there is an array of historical sights featured on this enthralling rail tour. Germany's capital Berlin also offers you the opportunity to see famous landmarks including the Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Wall. The diversity of each destination makes this escorted tour truly unique. As you stroll through the cobbled streets you will see a variety of medieval and Baroque architecture, whilst also having the opportunity to indulge in some shopping.
Day 1 - London to Vienna by sleeperWe travel by Eurostar from St Pancras International to Brussels, then onwards to Cologne, where we join the EuroNightLine sleeper service for the journey to the captivating Austrian capital, Vienna.
Day 2 - ViennaWe arrive in Vienna in the morning and start the day with a guided tour of this magnificent city, which includes the famous Ringstrasse, the mighty Hofburg Palace and the charming Old Town. The rest of the day is at leisure, before we enjoy dinner together. (D)
Day 3 - Exploring ViennaToday is free for you to explore Vienna - why not visit Schönbrunn Palace? Set in hundreds of acres of beautiful gardens, the elegant palace with its 1,441 rooms is one of Vienna's architectural highlights. (B)
Day 4 - To PragueThis morning we depart Vienna for Prague, arriving mid-afternoon in the Czech capital. The rest of our day is free for you to explore this fine city. (B,D)
Day 5 - PragueToday we enjoy a guided sight-seeing tour of Prague, discovering some of the 'Golden City's' most famous sights, including the medieval Castle district and the historic Old Town Square as well as Charles Bridge with its magnificent Baroque statues. (B)
Day 6 - Kutná HoraToday you are free to continue your exploration of Prague at your leisure. Alternatively, our optional excursion today is to Kutná Hora, in the central Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. This beautiful town's historic centre is, along with St Barbara Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent cathedral, along with the nearby Ossuary and the former Royal Mint. (B)
Day 7 - To BerlinToday we leave Prague by rail bound for Germany. Our high-speed train to Berlin travels along the scenic valley of the Elbe and through an area of rocky gorges known as 'Saxon Switzerland'. (B,D)
Days 8-9 - BerlinThis morning we take a fascinating guided tour of the once-divided German capital. Your afternoon, and Day 9, is at leisure to explore Berlin at our own pace, perhaps visiting the famous Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, or the Checkpoint Charlie Museum with its history of the Berlin Wall. Why not visit Potsdam, a former seat of the Prussian monarchs famed for its magnificent palaces? (Days 8-9: B)
Day 10 - Berlin to London
We travel to Cologne by rail, where we change for Brussels. Here we board our Eurostar service to St Pancras International in London. (B)
