Venice Cruise & Lake Garda 2014
A relaxed holiday to some of Italy’s most beautiful sights
We join MS Michelangelo for a magnificent cruise through the Venice Lagoon, admiring the tiny islands of this attractive archipelago, before exploring Milan and the many attractions of Lake Garda.
Days 1-2 - London to Venice via Turin
We leave from St Pancras International by Eurostar to Paris, where we change trains for Turin and an overnight stay at the NH Ambasciatori Turin. On Day 2 we enjoy a leisurely morning before travelling by rail to Venice. In the evening we board the MS Michelangelo.

Days 3-4 - Venice Lagoon and Venice
This morning we cruise through the shimmering lagoon. After lunch, you can join the optional sightseeing trip to Burano, one of the lagoon's prettiest islands and Murano, famous for its glassworks. This evening we enjoy dinner and dancing on board. On Day 4 you have the chance to take in some of Venice's most popular sights, including St Mark's Square on an optional walking tour. This afternoon is free to explore.
Days 3-4 - Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Days 5-7 - Chioggia and Lake Garda
We cruise to Chioggia, where free time here allows you to explore the sights of this bustling fishing port. In the afternoon, you may wish to join an optional excursion to Padua. We celebrate our final night on board with a gala evening. On Day 6, we disembark MS Michelangelo and travel by train to Desenzano, on Lake Garda's southern shores. On arrival we check in to our base for six nights, the 4* Hotel Piccola Vela. On the morning of Day 7 we cruise to Sirmione, a pretty town set on a peninsula jutting into the lake, which is home to Rocca Scaligeri (payable locally), a beautifully preserved 13th century castle. Later we return to Desenzano, for an afternoon at leisure.

Days 8-10 - Milan, Desenzano and Verona
Today we enjoy an excursion to stylish Milan for a guided tour of this impressive city. The highlight of our trip is a visit to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie to see Leonardo da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'. Day 9 is also free to relax in Desenzano, enjoying the warm climate. On Day 10 we visit Verona, a charming walled city of Roman origin and the setting for Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. Here we take in the narrow streets lined with medieval buildings, and the well-preserved Roman Arena. Later we dine at a local farmhouse and wine cellar, set amongst expansive vineyards. We enjoy a dinner of local ingredients, complemented by home-produced wines.
Days 8-10 - Breakfast, dinner
Days 11-13 - Isola del Garda and home
We visit wooded Isola del Garda, the lake's largest island today. We see the impressive neo-Gothic villa which dominates the island, as well as its beautifully manicured terraced gardens. On Day 12 we travel by coach and rail to Chambéry, for an overnight stay at the Mercure Chambéry Hotel. We take the train to Paris on Day 13, where we connect with the Eurostar service for the journey to St Pancras International.
