Discover Bavaria on this all inclusive rail tour with excursions to beautiful Lindau, Lake Constance and fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle, with time to explore Bavaria's capital city, Munich.
We depart St Pancras International on a Eurostar service to Brussels. We then continue by train to Cologne, where we join the high-speed service to Ulm. Here we make the short journey by regional train to Langenau, where we stay at the 3* Hotel Jägerhaus for the next six nights. All meals are provided from now until our departure from Langenau, and beer, wine and soft drinks are included between 7pm and 11pm. (D)
Today is free for you to explore Langenau. Alternatively you could
visit Ulm, with its stunning Minster with the highest steeple in
the world, Ellwangen with its basilica, or Heidenheim, home to the
magnificent Hellenstein Castle. (B,L,D)
We travel on the scenic line to Munich, Bavaria's capital. On
arrival we enjoy an informative guided tour of the main sights - an
excellent introduction to Munich. You are then free to explore the
city's many architectural treasures at leisure, including the
Frauenkirche - the Church of Our Lady, the neo-Gothic Town Hall, as
well as Munich's array of museums. We return to Langenau by rail.

We travel by coach through the foothills of the Bavarian Alps to spectacular Neuschwanstein Castle, which took 17 years to complete but was only occupied by King Ludwig for 170 days before he was deposed. We enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent building, which bristles with turrets and pinnacles and admire its grand interior and stunning views across the untouched countryside. (B,L,D)
Our excursion today takes us to the pretty, historic town of
Lindau. Located on a small island on the edge of Lake Constance, it
boasts breathtaking views over the water towards the Swiss and
Austrian Alps. The town, which dates back to the 15th century has a
rich history. During your time here you are free to explore the
picturesque medieval Old Town, strolling along the romantic alleys
and dreamy courtyards or along the delightful lakeside promenade.
The lighthouse at the port entrance is well worth a visit. You may
also choose to embark on a lake cruise. (B,L,D)
Today is at leisure to relax or explore the region further.
Alternatively you may wish to join our optional excursion by coach
for a journey along the Romantic Road to the medieval town of
Rothenburg. (B,L,D)
Our morning train takes us via Cologne to Brussels, where we join a Eurostar service back to St Pancras International in London. (B)
